Keys for Kindness is a student-led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to turn every key we play into an act of kindness. We bring live music into communities to spread joy, create meaningful connections and uplift spirits. By sharing our time, talent, and love of music, we hope that each performance serves as a reminder that even a simple act of kindness can leave a lasting impact.

Why?
Every performance reminds us why we do this. We watch seniors’ faces light up as a familiar song unlocks cherished memories. We hear the recurring “please come back” that tells us the music reached their hearts. Those moments, the smiles, the tears of recognition, the simple joy of being together, fill us with purpose. Brightening someone’s day, even for a little while, is the greatest gift we can give. And it keeps us coming back.

Music reduces loneliness and sparks interest in life.
A randomized study found that older adults participating in a community music program experienced meaningful improvements in loneliness and interest in life.
Music creates moments of joy and connection.
Research with nursing-home residents found that musical activities supported well-being and interpersonal relationships and residents especially valued hearing live performances.

Research across more than 1,700 older adults found that music-based interventions can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
